I see a lot of Doumeki/Kohane hate, which doesn’t make sense to me
To my knowledge, even grown-up!Kohane had never deviated from her love of Watanuki and her affectionate moments with Doumeki somehow go back to Watanuki in some way. Hell, it was most likely a marriage of convenience between the two. Each cared for Watanuki so much that they really couldn’t be with anybody else, if they couldn’t have him. Nobody else would understand their devotion. Also, their children - and then their children and so on - would be able to keep Watanuki company when they themselves could no longer be with him.
It’s a depressing situation, but given the nature of xxxHOLiC, I don’t see true love - at least in the romantic sense - between Doumeki and Kohane.
